January adjustments

With the beginning of the new year, it's a given, that more people start going to the gym. I've been going to the gyms for years, and know the drill. However, our Zumba instructor is so popular, that her classes are always super crowded. Especialy Sunday mornings... I prefer to be in the back right corner, as that is the way my brain has chosen for me to read the zumba routines the easiest way. But with the many newbies, I often find myself in a new spot, because they all want to be in the back.

I remember the feeling of going to Zumba for the first time. It makes me proud when I think about how Zumba changed my life 2½ years ago! I always look at the newbies and think "I wonder if they will stay at it like me.." Zumba is keeping me busy and I love it. When I think back on how my life was before zumba, it makes me sad. I remember the dayly trip to buy chocolate on the way home, then sitting down in front of the tv for the rest of the day. Now I hardly ever watch tv, cause I'm never home. I simply keep myself busy and it's the only thing preventing me from getting back to my old habbits. Instead I allow myself the treats now, because I go to the gym. I lost a lot of weight within the first 6 months and have been able to keep it off for 2 years. But that's not all. People say I look more happy now. Someone even told my mom that I had so much selfesteem now, which is something I never seemed to have before, so that made me realy proud. To know that other people can see that I like being me now, is such a great feeling. I'm not afraid of what people think of me anymore, because I know that I work hard at the gym every week and am damn proud of it!

I must admit, there were 2 weeks after Christmas that I didn't go to zumba. but I didn't feel bad about it, cause I knew  would get back once I found the time for it again and as I had been sick for a while, with a cough, that may have been the cold flu, I think my boddy was begging me for a break. I know allow myself breaks!! I'm not super woman so anything I feel like doing or not doing, I decide.

As Zumba class on Fridays was taken off the program, I felt the need of another 1 hour work out. As dancing seems to be the only thing I realy enjoy, I was pleased to see that there was a new Dance Fit class on Tuesdays, which normaly would be my "day off." I must admit, that dance fit class is very boring, but as I find myself thinking time flies fast, I decided to stick with it. Because I have such a busy schedule after work, I had to write down exactly which bus to take where and when, to make it to the gym in time. Without that, I would be lost.

Here's my January work out schedule:

Monday: (Too lazy to leave the house after 19...)
Tuesday: 1 hour Dance Fit
Wednesday: 2 hours salsa freestyle (salsa work out)
Thursday: 1 hour Zumba
Friday: (Sadly no more Zumba)
Saturday:
Sunday: 2 hours of Zumba
- So with 3 "Non work out days," I've still been able to work out 6 hours a week :)

Because we don't have zumba on Fridays any more, our instructor promised to me some zumba events every now and then. So January 25th. we had a 1½ hour "Zumba pop songs edition" event. It was a lot of fun.

The last week of January, I didn't get to do any work out at all. this time it wasn't because I was ill, but because my instructors were. That's what happens. Luckily every instructor was working again this week and I've enjoyed 6 hours of work out.. I know it could've been 7, but I decided to skip Tuesday's dance fit. I plan on going to all scheduled classes next week. There is a risk that my salsa will get cancelled, though.. But I hope my instructor will find a new location for our salsa before Wednesday.

Busy week, but I feel great!

Of course I fell asleep early last night before I could even think of writing the blog entry I was planning on writing..

I've just been so busy for the past couple of weeks, that my body was starting to show signs of lack of sleep.

This morning I woke up to the news that it has now been schientifically proven, that women are more impressed by male dancers who use the entire body when they dance rather than guys who just do the left and right step.. No wonder!

Go ahead and check the wrong moves  and the right moves here
http://news.sciencemag.org/sciencenow/2010/09/these-dance-moves-are-irresistib.html - Guys, I have one word for you.... ZUMBA!

Zumba was cancelled Thursday last week since the instructor was in Colombia. That gave me a free day to prepare a few things for the upcoming days.

Friday after work, I went to a salon to have my hair cut. After that I went home for about an hour before meeting my brother in town again. There was an outdoor Zumba performance that I was planning on going to, but because the weather looked like rain, I decided it was best to skip that.

When I came home that evening, I baked a cake for my friend's baby's Christianing party Sunday.

Saturday morning I wrapped the gift I bought for my friends' baby before going to my grandmother's house. The entire family was helping my grandma tame her garden all Saturday. It was hard work. It was so hot and dirty. I was getting rid of weeds taller than myself.. It was hard work for 12 hours. I took my bike out there and had to ride it back home.. It was dark and very cold. Fall is definitely here.

When I got home I had to bake another cake for the Christianing party. Then I decorated the two caked.. And finaly, before going to bed past midnight, I had to print the name cards for the table Sunday.

Sunday morning I got ready for the Christianing. My dad drove me. At first I had to pick up my friend's cousin and his friend who was going to help me set the table at the party room where the party would be. The two guys were Polish and hard to communicate with, but I tried my best.
Everything was perfect! We had a lovely party afterwards. I got home around 7 PM. Then my dad picked me up since I had to help instal some programs on their computer. I finaly got home at 11:30 PM very tired.

Monday I had one zumba class.. I was so tired after a long weekend, that I forgot all about signing up for zumba classes in week 38. I hate myself for forgetting!! This will be the first time I miss the male instructor's classes. I signed up a the waiting list in case somebody decides not to be in the classes.. Unfortunately his classes are so popular that Ibthink chances are little.. However, the classes are early in the afternoon and usualy his classes are in the evening. I'll try to be patient, but eventualy I think I will ask them at the gym. To make sure I'll have Zumba classes that week, I already scheduled classes at other gyms.

Tuesday I had a class of zumba followed my a class of dance fit (club dancing). It was late and I almost fell asleep on the bus on my way home.

So yes, it's been a very long and busy week. Tomorrow I have two Zumba classes straight from work. I was hoping for a male instructor to replace the normal instructor, but looking at the schedule, I see he's been replaced with a female instructor I never heard about before.

Today my "Crazy Happy" Zumba top was in the mail box.. I'm so happy to finaly have it! It fits me perfect and I can't wait to wear it some day. I tried it on with my runner's tights. I still haven't had the gutt to wear the tights before, but tomorrow I will! I finaly feel comfortable wearing those.

Saturday I have nothing planned, so I'll probably be either cleaning, shopping or both! And probably watch some more dance movies. Tonight I saw "Dirty Dancing 2" and "Step Up".

Zumba free week-end!

I've had quite a busy zumba schedule this week. But today I managed to squeeze in a dentist apointment between work and zumba. On my way to the dentist, I had time to stop by a small thrift shop. I love thrift shops and decorate my apartment with vintage and retro furniture that I find. The only think I liked at this thrift shop, was a small spice rack in red. It's pure retro and will look perfect in my kitchen.

I came out from the dentist with zero cavities. I felt so relieved and very happy. So happy that I feel like spoiling myself again. I've been thinking about getting an Ipod for a while now. But I didn't need it since I already have a 4GB mp3 player with a radio. But the problem is. I have too much music on there and I can't find a specific song when I want to hear it. So I was thinking that maybe an Ipod would make it possible for me to store the music in different groups. I have no idea, but it's something I want to look into. That would make it much easier for me to find the music I want to hear on the way to Zumba. I think the various zumba instructors have inspired me. They all bring their music on their Ipod or Iphones.. so simple.

I read somewhere, that the pain you often get from exercising realy hits you 2 days after your work out. So I did some calculating and found out that Sunday will be my only day without muscle pain.

Zumba Monday (2 classes) - brought pain Wednesday
Zumba Tuesday - brought pain Thursday (today)
Zumba Wednesday (2 classes) - brings pain Friday
Zumba Thursday (today) - brings pain Saturday
No Zumba Friday - brings no pain Sunday

My zumba schedule is the same next week, except for Thursday when I have to skip a class and go see my brother compete for Danish Stand Up Championship. The next day I'm going on a shopping spree to Germany. Usualy going to Germany means buying cheap candy.. But this time I'm telling myself "it's not worth it." Last time we went there, I gained so much weight in the following months, so this time I'm determined not to buy un-healthy things. Instead I will focus on nice things like clothes, beauty suply and possibly chewing gum.

I already have my sweaty zumba clothes spinning in the machine. Just in case I decide to go to a gym in the weekend. There is a new gym in town that I want to go check out, since I might join their zumba classes in a couple of weeks.  It's pitch dark outside, but I hope I can see enough out there to hang up the clothes to dry.

But for now, it's a Zumba free weekend!
